To add a slicer to Power BI, follow these steps:
- Open Power BI Desktop and load the dataset you want to work with.
- Navigate to the “Home” tab and click on the “Slicer” button in the “Visualizations” section.
- A slicer visual will be added to your report canvas.
- On the right-hand side of the screen, you will see the “Fields” pane. Drag and drop the field you want to use as a slicer from the “Fields” pane into the “Values” section of the slicer visual.
- The slicer visual will update to display the distinct values of the selected field.
- Customize the slicer visual as needed using the options in the “Visualizations” pane, such as changing the slicer type, format, or adding a title.
- Resize and position the slicer visual on the report canvas as desired.
