To add a search bar to a slicer in Power BI, you can follow these steps:
- Open Power BI Desktop and open the report or the data model that you want to edit.
- Click on the slicer visual to select it.
- In the “Visualizations” pane on the right, click on the “Format” icon (paint roller).
- Expand the “General” section.
- Enable the “Search” option by switching the toggle to ON.
- You can also customize the search behavior by selecting the desired search mode (e.g., Advanced, Normal, Off).
- Adjust any other formatting options as needed (e.g., font size, background color).
Once you’ve enabled the search bar, users can simply type in keywords or values to filter the slicer options. This feature is especially useful when dealing with large data sets or long lists of values.
For example, if you have a slicer for product categories and you enable the search bar, users can start typing “Electronics” to quickly filter and select relevant options.
