Adding Currency Symbol in Power BI
In Power BI, you can add a currency symbol to your data by following the steps below:
- Select the column or measure that you want to format as currency.
- Go to the Modeling tab in the Power BI ribbon at the top.
- Click on the drop-down menu next to the Data Type option.
- Select “Currency” from the list.
- Once you select the currency type, a small pop-up window will appear.
- In the pop-up window, you can choose the currency symbol you want to use from the options available.
- If the symbol you want is not available, you can click on the “Custom Symbol” option and enter your desired symbol manually.
- After selecting the currency symbol, click on the OK button.
Example:
Let’s say you have a column named “Price” in your Power BI table, and you want to format it as currency with the dollar symbol. You can follow the steps mentioned above to achieve this.
Once you have selected the “Price” column, go to the Modeling tab, click on the drop-down menu next to Data Type, and select “Currency.” In the pop-up window, choose the dollar symbol from the list or enter “$” as a custom symbol. Click OK to apply the currency formatting to the “Price” column.
Now, the “Price” column will be displayed with the currency symbol in Power BI visuals, such as tables, charts, or matrices.
