How to Add an Image to Power BI

Adding an image to your Power BI reports or dashboards can enhance data visualization and improve the overall aesthetics. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to add an image to Power BI:

  1. First, make sure you have the image file you want to add saved on your computer or accessible through a URL.
  2. Open Power BI and navigate to the report or dashboard where you want to add the image.
  3. In the visualization pane, click on the “Image” icon. It usually looks like a mountain with a sun or moon behind it.
  4. Click and drag on the canvas to create a placeholder for the image.
  5. In the “Visualizations” pane, on the right side of the Power BI window, select the “Image URL” option if your image is hosted online, or select the “Image File” option if your image is saved locally on your computer.
  6. If you selected the “Image URL” option, enter the URL of the image in the provided field. If you selected the “Image File” option, click on the “Browse” button to locate and select the image file on your computer.
  7. Once the image is selected, Power BI will display the image in the placeholder you created earlier. You can resize, reposition, or apply any formatting options to the image using the Power BI formatting options.
  8. If needed, you can also add a hyperlink to the image by configuring the “Action” field in the “Visualizations” pane. This allows users to interact with the image, such as clicking on it to open a webpage or another report.
