Chart.js doesn’t support this directly, but Evert Timberg was very helpful in providing an example Chart.js plugin does exactly this.
From Chart.js Data Labeling Example
// Define a plugin to provide data labels
Chart.plugins.register({
afterDatasetsDraw: function(chartInstance, easing) {
// To only draw at the end of animation, check for easing === 1
var ctx = chartInstance.chart.ctx;
chartInstance.data.datasets.forEach(function (dataset, i) {
var meta = chartInstance.getDatasetMeta(i);
if (!meta.hidden) {
meta.data.forEach(function(element, index) {
// Draw the text in black, with the specified font
ctx.fillStyle = 'rgb(0, 0, 0)';
var fontSize = 16;
var fontStyle = 'normal';
var fontFamily = 'Helvetica Neue';
ctx.font = Chart.helpers.fontString(fontSize, fontStyle, fontFamily);
// Just naively convert to string for now
// <---- ADJUST TO DESIRED TEXT --->
var dataString = dataset.data[index].toString();
// Make sure alignment settings are correct
ctx.textAlign = 'center';
ctx.textBaseline = 'middle';
var padding = 5;
var position = element.tooltipPosition();
ctx.fillText(dataString, position.x, position.y - (fontSize / 2) - padding);
});
}
});
}
});
For example, if i just passed in “#22” as the text to render, we get this.
