How to Apply a Slicer to Only One Visual in Power BI
Applying a slicer to only one visual in Power BI allows you to filter the data specifically for that visual while not affecting other visuals on the same report or dashboard. Here’s how you can do it:
- Create a new page in your Power BI report by clicking on the “New Page” button in the toolbar.
- Drag and drop the visual you want to apply the slicer to onto the new page.
- Select the visual by clicking on it.
- Go to the “Visualizations” pane on the right side of the screen.
- In the “Fields” section of the Visualizations pane, locate the field you want to use as a slicer and drag it onto the “Slicer” section.
- The slicer will now be applied to the visual on that specific page, allowing you to filter the data displayed within that visual only.
For example, let’s say you have a report with multiple visuals including a bar chart, a line chart, and a table. If you want to apply a slicer to just the bar chart and only filter its data, you can follow the above steps to create a new page, place the bar chart on that page, and apply the slicer to it.
Now, when you interact with the slicer on the new page, only the data displayed in the bar chart will be filtered based on your selection, while the other visuals on the original page will remain unaffected.
This technique can be useful when you want to compare the filtered data within a specific visual without impacting the overall view of the other visuals in your Power BI report.
